A website project moves much faster when the content is ready. It also usually turns out better, because your designer is not guessing what your business does, who you serve, or what customers care about.
You do not need perfect copy before hiring a web designer. But you should prepare the raw material: services, photos, proof, contact details, and examples of what you like.
Start with the business basics
- Business name exactly as it should appear.
- Phone number, WhatsApp number, email, and address if relevant.
- Service areas in Singapore.
- Main services and the customers each service is for.
- Opening hours and response time expectations.
Write rough notes for each service
Do not worry about polished copy. A good web designer can help shape the words. What they need from you is substance: what the service includes, what it does not include, common problems, price factors, and what happens after someone enquires.
If you can explain your service clearly in WhatsApp, you already have most of the material needed for the website.
Collect proof before the project starts
- Real project photos.
- Before-and-after images.
- Google review screenshots or links.
- Certifications, licences, or warranty details.
- Customer questions you answer often.
Share examples, but explain why
Sending five websites you like is useful only if you explain what you like about them. Is it the layout, tone, colours, simple navigation, or the way they present services?
Also share websites you dislike. That can be just as helpful because it removes guesswork early.
Prepare access and ownership details
If you already have a domain, hosting account, old website, Google Business Profile, or email account, know who has access. Many delays happen because nobody knows where the domain was bought.
Your domain and important accounts should sit under your business, not under a vendor you cannot reach.
Common questions
Do I need to write all the website copy myself?
No. But preparing rough notes helps your designer write or structure the copy accurately.
What if I do not have photos?
You can still launch, but real photos usually build more trust than generic stock images. Even simple phone photos can help if they are clear.
Need a simple website brief?
I walk clients through the content I need before building, so the project stays focused and practical.
